One-Way Tolling Survey Winner and Results Announced

FORT MYERS, Florida (May 28, 2008) — Today, Leeway announced the winner of the “Thank You” drawing for participation in the recent survey on One-Way Tolling. Mr. Herb Schneider of Cape Coral will be receiving a $250 check as the lucky winner. “While Mr. Schneider won the $250, we’d like to thank everyone that shared their opinion with us. In all, over 3500 bridge users responded.” said Paul Wingard, Deputy Director of Lee County DOT. “Of those, 74% favored retaining One-Way Tolling, 8% had no opinion, and 18% preferred reverting back to two way tolling.” continued Wingard.

The aggregate results of the survey can be seen by following the survey result link at www.leewaysurvey.com. These results do not reveal any contact information provided by respondents.

The Lee County Board of Commissioners approved a one year trial period for implementing One-Way Tolls on the Cape Coral and Midpoint Memorial Bridges. The trial period started November 1, 2007. One-Way Tolling is being studied as a way to make LeeWay more efficient to reduce operating expenses and to facilitate changes to improve traffic flow at the toll plazas
